I am Pratush Brahma, a PhD graduate from the University of Florida dedicated to understanding how and why animals adapt to a constantly changing world.
My fundamental research interest lies in understanding the behavioral decision-making in animals, particularly the tradeoffs associated with reproduction and foraging strategies. I explore what choices individuals make to maximize their fitness under varying conditions, and how these optimal choices cascade into population level patterns. My doctoral work sits at the fascinating intersection of Evolutionary Biology, Behavioral Ecology, and Complex Systems Modeling. I use theoretical and quantitative approaches, specifically dynamic state variable models, Monte Carlo simulations and population projections, along with empirical and field studies to decode the hidden rules of animal choice.
When I am not running simulations or decoding animal behavior, I am often focused on my love for animals through wildlife photography. I also stay active playing multiple sports, including cricket, badminton, volleyball, soccer, and table tennis.
